Ruben Neves became a star very quickly for Wolves. Signed in a landmark £16m transfer from Porto, he took to English football with aplomb.
In the Championship, he asserted himself by scoring six goals before adding a further four in his first campaign in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has risen in stock and therefore links to some of the top clubs in Europe are hardly surprising. Pep Guardiola has previously battered away speculation that Manchester City would be willing to pay £100m for his services but Real Madrid are now one of the sides who could swoop for him.
Reports in Spain at the back end of last month suggested that Zinedine Zidane’s men could be in the market for the Portugal international.
Since then, Wolves fans have been asked on Twitter just how much they think it would take to sell the young midfielder if a bid came in. Bearing the Madrid links in mind, one supporter said they’d demand £100m and Gareth Bale in what can only be described as an incredibly far fetched suggestion.
That wasn’t the only response of £100m but there was a greater sense of perspective from others with fees like £50m-£60m being touted.
Neves has so far netted two goals this season as Wolves currently enjoy a run of just one defeat in their last 12 outings in all competitions.
Here’s the best of the reaction.
